2021 TNT Postcard Mailing

Wilson County Property Owners should be receiving their Truth-in-Taxation Postcard Notice for 2021. Pursuant to new Texas Property Tax Code “Truth-in-taxation” requirements added by Senate Bill 2 in 2019, The Wilson County Appraisal District (WCAD) mailed out approximately 42,000 postcards on August 7th, 2021.

The postcard guides property owners to the official website wilson.countytaxrates.com which serves as the local property tax database site, in which property owners can easily access information regarding property tax rates and provide feedback to their local taxing units.

Information will regularly be updated in this local tax database during August and September as local taxing units propose and adopt the property tax rates.

The Wilson County Appraisal District, which is not part of the Wilson County Tax Office, issued postcards required by law regarding the property tax rate database available to all property owners.

Senate Bill 2, under the new Texas Tax Reform and Transparency Act, requires the Chief Appraiser of each Appraisal District to create and maintain a property tax database that:

Contains information that is provided by taxing units located in the appraisal district, such as cities, school district, county and emergency service districts

Is continuously updated as preliminary and revised data becomes available and is provided by the taxing units

Is accessible to the public

Is searchable by property address and owner per Texas Tax Code § 26.17 (a)

The postcard is required to provide the website for the database and the name, address, and telephone number of the County Tax Assessor-Collector

Please continue to check the website for updates throughout the tax rate adoption process in August and September.
